Alanna Renee - Milky Way

I have a gorgeous glitter polish to show you today!

The polish is called Milky Way and is another bottle from indie 3-free polish brand Alanna Renee. Alanna is also a fellow Australian blogger who has a range of gorgeous glitter polishes for sale- including this beauty!

A few weeks ago, I posted about Alanna's Harry Potter inspired collection which was the Magical World collection. Well, she also has a number of other polishes that she released before that line, and Milky Way is one of them.

Milky Way is made up of multi sized, colour shifting pieces of glitter. Because it has a clear base, it makes it absolutely perfect for layering and I can see it complementing so many different polishes! You will most definitely be seeing Milky Way on this blog again in the future!

Loreal Paris Resist & Shine (unnamed) and Alanna Renee Milky Way

I layered one coat of Milky Way over a coat of this extremely dark purple/black polish from Loreal. It is so dark that it pretty much looks black (as you can see from my swatches), but a purple shimmer can be seen on a few different angles. The polish doesn't have a name, but it has an amazing consistency and I am in love with the brush! It makes application almost flawless!

Australian buyers can purchase Milky Way along with Alanna's other polishes from her website here and they retail for $7.99 each.

For those who are not in Australia, there are also international distributers with Alanna Renee polishes available too and you can check them out by clicking here.

I'd also like to add that today is the last day of May and I seriously cannot believe how fast this year has gone by. Aside from my upcoming exams, I've pretty much finished my first semester of uni and I'm definitely looking forward to sleeping in during my mid-year break. :p To those of you who also have exams soon, I'll finish this post up by wishing you all the best!

Chemist Warehouse Haul: 50% off Australia Wide!

After seeing Kerri's blogpost mentioning a 50% off sale at Chemist Warehouse, I knew that I would be making a stop at a Chemist Warehouse store as soon as possible. If you haven't already heard, Chemist Warehouse is currently having a 50% off sale Australia wide on all Revlon, Maybelline, Rimmel and Sally Hansen products.

What I picked up:

Rimmel London Match Perfection Blush in 02 Light/Medium:   $7.47 (RRP: $14.95)
Rimmel London Lasting Finish in Apricot Punch:   $2.97 (RRP: $5.95)
Rimmel London Lasting Finish in Your Majesty:   $2.97 (RRP: $5.95)
Maybelline Baby Lips in Mango Pie:   $1.98 (RRP: $3.95)
Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Kiss:   $1.98 (RRP: $3.95)
Maybelline Baby Lips in Energizing Orange:   $1.98 (RRP: $3.95)
Maybelline Baby Lips in Baby Pink:   $1.98 (RRP: $3.95)
Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Blast:   $1.98 (RRP: $3.95)

Total cost: $21.35
Total savings: $21.32!

The main things that I wanted to grab were the Maybelline Baby Lips lip balms because  these are my "go-to" lip balms, especially for the upcoming Winter season, and also because I missed out on grabbing these at Priceline's 40% off sale a few weeks ago. I really wanted to try more of the new tinted 'Colour' range but there was only one available.

The Revlon stand and Rimmel London polishes which both had quite a lot of stock left.

The half price offers end on the 30th of May so you all have over a week to head into your nearest Chemist Warehouse stores! I wouldn't be surprised if I find myself going back there again too because I'm a sucker for discounts. Speaking of discounts, a lot of the shopping centre VIP nights are happening around this time of year (in Melbourne at least) and I'm planning on going to one soon..... I just can't seem to stay away from all the sales!

Hope you had a good start to the week! :)

Alanna Renee - 'Fawkes' and 'Golden Snitch'

I have grown up reading and watching the Harry Potter series and I was quite sad when all 8 films were officially completed. When I found out that Alanna had a nail polish collection that was inspired by the HP books and movies, well... let's just say that I was pretty excited!

The Magical World collection from the polish brand Alanna Renee was recently released in April 2013, and like I mentioned above, it is inspired by the Harry Potter series. There is a total of 12 glitter polishes and they all have formulas that are Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP Free (3-free).

Today I have two gorgeous polishes from the Magical World collection to show to you, Fawkes and Golden Snitch.

Fawkes consists of multi sized red and gold glitters in a red jelly base. Unfortunately, my camera wasn't able capture the full effect of this polish because it is seriously very sparkly! *-* It is inspired by Dumbledore's pet pheonix called Fawkes who has red and gold feathers. I've used three coats with one layer of topcoat.

Golden Snitch has a clear base that is packed with different sized gold glitters. Like Fawkes, Golden snitch is also an extremely sparkly and shiny polish.. it's gorgeous! As the name suggests, it is inspired by the 'golden snitch' which is a tiny golden flying ball that must be caught in a game of Quiddich for a team to win. I've used three coats with a topcoat in these photos.

So shiny!!

Alanna Renee - Golden Snitch and Fawkes

I found that both of these glitter polishes had very consistent formulas and were super easy to apply. They are currently available from Alanna's website here for Australian buyers and retail for $7.99 each.

For those who are not in Australia, there are also international distributers with Alanna Renee polishes available too and you can check them out by clicking here.

I have one more Alanna Renee polish to show you all that is not from the Magical World collection and I can't wait to post it! Until then, enjoy the rest of your week!
